Amberley Gavel was formed in the summer of 2007 by Fred Dean and Nigel Bellchamber to assist municipal governments in Ontario with changes to the Municipal Act 2001 regarding closed meeting procedure investigations.
Due to the large number of amendments introduced to the Act in 2006, Amberley Gavel began working then on a process that would provide impartial, independent, confidential and credible investigations at a reasonable cost, particularly in light of the geographic size of Ontario.
The assistance of AMO’s Local Authority Services in working with Amberley Gavel to provide the service has been very helpful and is consistent with its mandate of finding efficiencies for municipalities through group procurement.
